Oscar Night Nerves?

Filed under: Rants — admin @ 10:02 am on the

As I settled down on Sunday night to watch the grandeur of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) I was left somewhat disappointed and even found myself laughing at some of the celebrities as they strolled onto that famous red carpet on the Hollywood Boulevard. You must admit, with all the money that these celebrities ‘rake in,’ would it be too much to ask for them to visit a proper fashion advisor and hair stylist.

To be honest if the awards were held in Scotland or even Iceland (where it is wet and windy) then there is an excuse for some of the bad hair styles, but it was not, it was in Hollywood and after a breezy start the weather picked up. This is a massive night for all involved, probably the biggest night of their life’s (so far) so why in front of the worlds press do they insist on parading down the red carpet looking like they had just fell out off bed and not a hair finishing product in sight.

Hair Stress Management

When you book an appointment at your local hairdressers you are booking much more than just a space in a stylist’s chair. For some, this is a time to relax from the daily toil of house work, kids and constant moans of the loved one. As you relax back into your seat, the hairdresser begins to massage exotic ingredients into your hair you can now feel all the stress of the day simply running away with the water and lather.

Hairdressers are not just professional people that cut, colour and style your hair but are also good listeners, problem solvers and friends to all their clients. Having your own hairdresser is like having your own stress manager, therapist and councillor all rolled into one. Not only will they listen to all your complaining, problems and general gossip they will also make you feel and look great as you leave their shop.

With all the award ceremonies that have been taking place recently some of the celebs must be wishing that they had a good hairdresser that they can call a friend.

Waiting For Straight Hair

Your familiar with the scenario. It is played out across thousands of homes every weekend. There is the guy left shouting that the taxi will be here anytime at the bottom of the stairs while there other half is still getting ready… she’s all dressed, make up on so what is keeping her? As the guy ascends the stairs he sees his other half sitting on the stool, dragging hot straighteners through her hair in order to keep it straight.

Remembering, that a set of hair straighteners will reach temperatures in excess of 200 degrees, what is an ideal age to start using them ten, twelve or late teens, after all, that heat must start to dry your hair out.

However in her recent reality program Katie Price, (aka Jordan) was seen straightening her two year old daughter’s hair. Is this right to put someone at that age through such an ordeal, after all putting something at 200 degrees next to your scalp is scary enough for an experienced person.

If you have to straighten your hair, there there are products that are designed to protect and moisturise your hair. Here we feature a few hair straightening products…

Best International Album, Best International Female Solo and Best International Breakthrough Act that’s what Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta walked away with at the recent BRIT awards on Tuesday night. Better known by her stage name of Lady Gaga her performance which included a melody of ‘Telephone’ and ‘Dance in the Dark’ were done as tribute to the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

Lady Gaga stole the show as she strolled up the red carpet with one of the most revealing dresses that she had ever worn, and adorned one of the craziest blonde wigs ever seen, well since the last Elton John party anyway.

This is a look that obviously suits this singer, who admitted to having hair extensions, she has also admitted on her fan page that she regularly bleaches her hair as she is a natural brunette and was fed up being mistaken for the British singer Amy Winehouse.

Lengthy Hair Making A Fake Impression

Filed under: General — admin @ 2:16 pm on the February 17, 2010

A recent survey from The Trichological Society, which have been looking into the effects of poor hair extensions want to warn people that although some salons will be offering this procedure at a low cost it’s not all good news as this can cause irreversible damage to your scalp such as bald patches and alopecia, some of the blame may be down to the poor or no training of the hairdresser.

The Trichological Society go on to warn that poor hair extensions will pull the natural hair and as the extensions start to tangle you may be in danger of pulling out your own natural hair.

Remember not all salons are the same, if you wish to get hair extensions talk to a professional hairdresser and they will inform you correctly of how to look after your hair extensions and also the hazards to avoid and hopefully this will help put your mind at ease.
